Who we are

PantryNudge is a household pantry app. This policy explains what we collect and why. To ask for a copy of your data, or for anything else about this policy, email privacy@pantrynudge.com.

What we collect

  • Your email address, and a name if you give one, so you can sign in.
  • Pantry contents: item names, quantities, categories, places, and expiry dates you enter or that we estimate.
  • Household choices: cuisines, diet style, and a named diet if you pick one.
  • Allergies, if you choose to add them. These can be health information.
  • Shelf photos you submit for a scan. We send the photo to generate a list of items and do not keep the photo.
  • People you invite to a pantry, and the names and emails of members in a pantry you share.

Why we use it

We process your account and pantry data to provide the service you signed up for. That includes keeping your list, estimating expiry, scanning a shelf photo, and suggesting or recalibrating recipes. Shelf photo scans, recipe imports, and recalibrations are on the free plan up to a monthly limit. Plus, which raises those limits, is not on sale yet.

Allergies are optional. We store them only after you agree, and we use them only to skip matching foods in recipes and diet plans for your pantry. People you share that pantry with can see them. You can clear the list at any time in Preferences.

Who else handles it

These providers process data for us. Each offers a data processing agreement, which we accept in their dashboards.

  • Supabase stores the database and sign-in accounts, in the cloud region configured for the PantryNudge project.
  • Cloudflare hosts the website and the app.
  • Google handles “Sign in with Google”, and its Gemini API turns shelf photos, item names, and diet choices into scan results, recipes, and diet plans. We use a paid Gemini tier so those prompts are not used to train Google’s models. We do not store the photo.
  • Upstash stores short-lived rate-limit counters keyed by account, not your pantry contents.
  • Open Food Facts receives a barcode when you look up a product. It does not receive your account.
  • TheMealDB receives a cuisine or diet filter when you browse recipes. It does not receive your account.

Some of these providers are outside your country, including in the United States. Where the GDPR applies, we rely on their standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and pantry until you delete the account, or until you leave a shared pantry. Deleting the account removes your sign-in and profile. A shared pantry stays with the household. If you are the only member, the pantry and its contents are deleted with the account. Rate-limit counters expire on their own. Shelf photos are not stored.

Your rights

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, or a copy of your data, and you can object to processing or withdraw consent for allergies. Delete your account from Preferences in the app. Email privacy@pantrynudge.com for a copy of your data or any other request. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Cookies and storage

The app keeps your sign-in session in local storage on your device. That storage is required for the app to stay signed in. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies, and this website does not set tracking cookies.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after that date is how you see the current version.
